Ben Forwood our Lion
As many of you are aware, the other week we had the sad news that our HPH lion Ben had passed away after a long battle against brain tumours, at the age of 38.
Born in Great Yarmouth in 1977 he grew up in Taverham before moving to Leeds in 2007. Before becoming a regular at Hyde Park Harriers, not many of you may realise that he was a former BMX European champion in 2006 and was second in the World championship in 2007.
Ben ran the London marathon twice and enjoyed doing the stage of the Tour of France last year even though he was losing his sight.
He was a fighter and will be greatly missed. On here you can find details of the memorial service that will be held in September and you will also find the memorial page that has been set up. There are already some lovely stories on there from his BMX days and it would be lovely if there could be some running memories added.
RIP our HPH lion, BMX Champion, Wife to Nicola, Father to Poppy, Inspiration to many.
