Race with Hyde Park Harriers

Although many of our members just run for fun or for fitness, we also have an active race programme.

Each year, we designate a number of races as “club events” and these contribute to our yearly awards.

We have separate Club Championships for road, off-road and fell running.  We believe this encourages participation, irrespective of ability in competitive opportunities and supports local races. The competitions are open to all first claim members who compete in these designated races and who have paid their Club subscription in full.

For news about upcoming races, race reports and photos, please check out our blog.

Club Competitor

Unlike the Club Championship which seeks to establish who in the club has run the fastest at designated races, the Club Competitor Championship recognises those athletes that have regularly represented the club throughout the year.

Road League

Ten designated road races over a variety of distances in the local area. The competition is open to all first claim members who compete in the specified races and who have paid their years subscription in full.

The best five race performances for each member will be totalled giving you your final score.

Off-Road League

Ten designated off-road races with distances over a variety of distances in the local area. The competition is open to all first claim members who compete in the specified races and who have paid their years subscription in full.

The best five race performances for each member will be totalled giving you your final score.

Fell League

The Fell championship includes ten designated races ranging from 1.5 to 15 miles. The competition is open to all first claim members who compete in the specified races and who have paid their years subscription in full.

The best five race performances for each member will be totalled giving you your final score.

Age Graded Championships

Age grading compares your time to the world record time for your sex and age to produce a % score. This score allows you to compare your personal performance against other people’s performances even though they might be a different age and a different sex to you.

Your top five performances from the road champs are taken for each member and added to give your final score.

parkrun League

The series takes place between April and February and consists of 12 ‘rounds’ of scoring at a nominated parkrun each month.

The competition is open to all first claim members who take part in the designated parkruns. Your best age graded performance for the month will count and you will score points based on your age graded score compared to other Harriers scores.
