Road Championship after 3

The first 3 rounds of the club Road Championship have now passed after the Wakefield 10, John Carr 5k and the Leeds Half.

There is still another 7 rounds to go with the best score from 7 of the 10 rounds counting so plenty to play for.

The early leader in the Ladies premier division is Laura Cummings with a 2nd on the John Carr and 1st at the Leeds Half.  Clare Mason is 6 points further back after a strong Wakefield and John Carr points.  Diane Aykroyd took maximum score at the first round and Rebecca Rogers at the 2nd leaving them on 20 points.  10 ladies have scored so far.

The 1st division for the ladies see’s Lucy Rider starting the year very strongly.  She took maximum points at the 1st two rounds and 2nd place points behind Helen Close at the Leeds half giving her 59 points already.  Joan Kavanagh has started well in 2nd with 36 points and Emma Amor is 3rd with 34.  10 ladies have so far scored points.

14 ladies have scored points in the 2nd division with Heather Fulton and Lois Gardner tied at the top on 38.  Heather won round 1 and picked up a 3rd at the Leeds half while Lois has 2 2nd places at the John Carr and Leeds half.  Nicola Shenton has only done the John Carr so far but got max points there and Maika Ohno has only done the Leeds half but took max points.

Into the mens premier league and a win and 2 2nds gives Chris Smith an early 6 point lead over a consistent James Vickers.   Richard Edwards is 3rd having taken part in all 3 as well.  Philip Goose took top points at the John Carr and Matthew Pinnock at the Leeds half.  10 men have scored so far.

The mens 1st division has seen 12 men score but even at this early stage its looking like it will take something extra special to claim top spot from Liam O’Brien.  Liam has top points from all 3 races so far and has a 14 point lead over 2nd place John Blatherwick.  Scot Watson is next up in 3rd.

Finally in the mens 2nd division Aron Hinds has had a strong start with 57 points in the bag already and a win at the first round.  Jimmy Sheldon is next up with 36 but both George Anderson and Pompeo Costantino have a max score under there belts.  13 scores in this division.

Next up will be the Otley 10 mile on Wednesday 8th June.
