Comms update

Last year, we asked you for your thoughts on how Hyde Park Harriers as a club communicates with you.

Based on what you said, we’re going to be making small tweaks to the content we put out. Below is a summary of the first steps we’re taking.

Weekly roundup

What you said:

  • Over 90% of you said that you’d like the roundup to focus more on ‘upcoming races, socials and events’
  • Some of you said that the roundup can sometimes be a repeat of content you’ve already seen on Facebook

What we’re going to do:

  • Make the roundup more forward looking. Each week, there will be a greater focus on what’s coming up, whether that’s socials or chances to volunteer
  • Change the date of the roundup to a Monday evening. Sending the roundup at the beginning of the week gives you more time to plan your time to attend HPH sessions and events. It also allows us to share important updates in a more timely way, ahead of that week’s sessions
  • Toby will expand his monthly Chair’s blog to celebrate your running stories and adventures. The roundup will still include these but you may see fewer of them week-to-week

Social media

What you said:

  • 98% of you said you’d like our social media content to focus more on ‘upcoming races, socials and events’
  • Some of you said that it can be hard to find the information you’re looking for in the Facebook group
  • Some of you said that you’d be interested in creating social media content with HPH

What we’re going to do:

  • Like the roundup, you’ll start to see more posts on social media that focus on what’s coming up
  • Continue the trial of putting post-Tuesday sessions content on a single thread to reduce the number of weekly posts in the Facebook group
  • Host an event for those interested in creating social media content alongside HPH

Behind the scenes

We’re introducing a HPH comms strategy and comms planner. This will help the committee with planning and allow our content to be more forward looking.

Finally, a big thank you

Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback is very helpful.

We received a lot of feedback which praised the efforts of all those who give up time to create content for HPH. You’re doing a great job and we’re making improvements from a very high base!

Your feedback is always welcome, please email hello@hydeparkharriers.co.uk
