Bike

Overview: The club offered a range of indoor and outdoor cycling activities. The aim of our sessions is to improve confidence, skills and fitness. We aim to provide a variety of inclusive sessions aimed at a range of abilities and level of confidence.

Indoor rides
During the winter months November – March we run a Virtual Race Series via Zwift. Races are held on a Monday 18:30. Races which including a mix of draft legal, crit race and time trial format and range from 20 – 60 minutes depending on the course. Whilst it is competitive for the overall Championship win, the races are a fun and inclusive environment with multiple leagues and jerseys to compete for, plus a great way to keep race sharp over the winter.
For those who prefer indoor riding a regular Monday Zwift session posted via Spond.

Outdoor riding
Our outdoor rides are mostly centred around weekly Monday and Sunday rides. On Mondays we meet outside the Hyde Park Book Club on Headingley Lane. On Sundays we meet at the Lawnswood Arms car park on Otley Road. All rides are advertised on Spond before hand and a route posted in advance.
Where possible groups are split to accommodate different riding speeds. We operate a “no-drop” rule on all our rides, this means no rider is left behind. We ask that you are considerate when choosing which group to ride with. Riders are expected to regroup at the top of a climb and if someone does drop off the pace, regroup where safe.
Our outdoor cycling programme is split into summer and winter:

Summer:
During the summer months April – September we meet on a Monday night 25-40kms /15-25 miles. The ride starts at Hyde Park Book Club at 18:00 and aims to be back for 20:00.
Weekend rides on a Sunday morning we meet for a longer social ride 50+kms/ 35+ miles with a café stop. The ride starts Lawnswood Arms at 08:30 aiming to be back for 12:30/13:00.
Bank Holiday rides we try to arrange a longer social ride on a bank holiday 60+kms/ 45+ miles with a café stop.

During the winter months September- March we meet on a Saturday or Sunday (weather dependent) 40 -60 kms/ 25 – 40miles. The ride starts at 09:00 and aims to be back for 11:00. Mudguards compulsory.

Please note all of our rides are social rides and NOT a coached session, and you are entirely responsible for your own safety. You must have a safe bike in good working order and you must wear a helmet. It’s your responsibility to follow the rules of the road and familiarise yourself we the route beforehand.
