SPOND AND GROUP SIGN-UP GUIDANCE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS

Whether you’re a veteran Harrier or have just started running with us, we’d very much appreciate it if you could read the below carefully and in full.

  • First and foremost, our club sessions are intended to be safe and as inclusive as possible – the responsibility for achieving these objectives lies with everyone participating in our sessions.
  • We use the Spond app to coordinate sessions and manage group sizes – each group has a maximum number of participants (usually set at 20, which is slightly higher than the ideal of around 15, but which allows for potential last-minute no-shows).
  • To join an official club session, you will need to have a space confirmed on the relevant Spond event.
  • Our regular Tuesday and Thursday sessions are made available on Spond at 7pm on Sunday of the preceding week – we appreciate that this time may not be ideal for everyone but having a standardised time is necessary to reduce the Spond admin burden. Please note that leaders are guaranteed a place in their group.
  • Please do not take spaces on multiple groups occurring at the same time – doing so will mean that another potential participant will be unnecessarily blocked from attending the session you do not attend.
  • If you have joined multiple waiting lists for a fully-booked group and you subsequently receive a place in one such group, please remove yourself from the waiting lists for any other group so that you do not take places in multiple concurrent groups.
  • If your plans change and you are no longer able to attend a group, please update your status on the relevant group’s register so that your space can be taken by another participant.
  • If you attend an event that is fully-booked in case there are any “last-minute no-show” spaces, please note that you are doing so at your own risk – the leader of the group will not be expected to include you in their group and they may ask you not to join the group. If you are happy to lead a contingency second group, let the leader know (ideally well before the event begins) so that the group can be split into two groups.
  • From time to time, the club reaches the cap set by Spond of active users in the group – when this happens, the committee reviews and removes those members who have not attended a club event recently. If you are removed from the Spond group in these circumstances, please note that you are very welcome to ask to rejoin the group.
  • Please always remember that our run leaders are volunteers giving up their time to enable club sessions – all club personnel and participants should be treated with respect and courtesy.
