Age Grading Factors were introduced in 1989 by World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA), now known as World Masters Athletics (WMA). They are designed to normalise performances for age and sex across all distances based on a growing database that monitors how aging affects races times. The higher the score, the better the performance – a score of 100% is likely to be close to a world best at that distance/age!
The tables/factors are periodically updated (currently every 5 years) as more data are collected – this makes them more accurate and hence more comparable across different distances and ages. The latest 2025 tables will be used for the club competition from 2025 onwards. Note that parkrun age grading scores have not been updated since it started and are consequently less accurate and more “generous”.
We will calculate the age grade scores for all members participating in the following specific races of the Summer League and the Winter League. To determine your overall score, the average % age grade score will be calculated from your top 3 performances.
- Piglove by the River 5km
- HPH Summer Mile
- Ilkley Half
- Roundhay 10km

Manual calculators can be found here and here if you want to check your scores.
