HARRIERS OF THE MONTH – NOVEMBER 2025

Amy Ramsden-Young (multiple nominations):

  • Congratulations to Amy on an awe-inspiring run at the UTMB Mallorca 100K – incredible stuff!
  • For an outstanding time at UTMB Mallorca 100k
  • A truly world class performance at UTMB Mallorca

Naomi Adkins (multiple nominations):

  • Naomi was super-organised, efficient and prepared for the PECO hosting – thank you for all your hard work
  • The most well communicated volunteering plan for the first PECO race of the season… suspect a non brainer for this month!
  • A seamless start to the peco season and although all the volunteers did a great job at middleton it was all down to Naomi and her excellent organisation. I don’t think most people realise how much work it was behind the scenes. Thanks Naomi

Well done to all our nominees, copied below:

  • Adam Lomas – Another incredible PB and club record, this time running sub54 at Preston 10 Mile. Amazing.
  • Ed Shakespeare and Hannah Long – Thanks to Ed and Hannah for organising and hosting a brilliant quiz for our club social this month – a fantastic evening!
  • Julie Robson – Well done Julie on your time at Meon Valley parkrun
  • Lisa Brannan – Lisa ran her first Peco on Sunday.  She was nervous and wasn’t sure what to expect,  but she wanted to join team mates and support the vets (yaaay!) She’s also a regular at training,  often stepping in to lead G1. She loved the Peco. . well, she loved it when it was over… and she’ll be back Peco-ing and training with the Club.
  • Mike Vargas – Mike came first in his age category at the Guy Fawkes 10 – nice one mate!
  • Paul Milligan and Paul Ramsden – Escape race…. ridiculous to consider, even worse to enter! Great effort.
  • PECO Men’s Team – The men’s team smashed the first PECO race – incredible performances from the usual suspects (Adam, Abdu, Sam, Ben and many more) and lots of new faces – great work all!
  • PECO Newbies! – Kudos to everyone trying out PECO for the first time this year – great to see so many new faces!
  • PECO volunteers (multiple nominations):
    • Thank you to Naomi and all the volunteers at PECO!
    • Everybody who volunteered to help at peco, especially Toby for organising where marshals needed to go, and the captains for getting everybody sorted to race

  • Richard Cartwright (multiple nominations):
    • 16 laps of the God’s Own Backyard Ultra is some going – well done Rich!

HIGHLIGHTS OF NOVEMBER 2025

  • Our incredible president Amy took on the 100K UTMB race in Mallorca at the start of the month, finishing in the top 15 in her category – an incredible achievement!
  • Our Winter League continued with the Guy Fawkes 10 – a new course for this year, but it looked just as hilly and brutal as ever! Well done to all the Harriers who took part; hopefully the chocolate made it worthwhile!
  • In lieu of Bonfire Night run sessions, Ed and Hannah organised a fantastic quiz night! Nine teams battled it out, with Secret Seven taking the victory (and the HPH socks) – a really great evening!
  • PECO is back, and we made it happen! The first race of the series was a brilliant success – thank you once again to all our volunteers, and especially Naomi A as our race director! Our teams did really well – a great start to the season! Roll on Pontefract in December…
  • Congratulations to Rich C, who completed 16 laps of the God’s Own Backyard Ultra – 67 miles in total! Incredible stuff.
  • Phil H smashed another ultra – the Wharfedale Skyline! Of all of HPH, Phil must have completed the all-time furthest racing distance, and he keeps adding to it!
  • Team A-Pauling (Milligan and Ramsden) are back for more adventures! They took on the Escape from Meriden event – 24 hours to get as far away from the start point, in any direction you choose! The weather foiled them in the end, but they gave a really fascinating event a damn good try!
  • Callum represented HPH at the Tour of Pendle fell race; a seriously gruelling 16 miles with nearly 1,500m of climbing…
  • The Tadcaster 10 Mile saw Gordon beat his own veteran record by nearly four minutes, with a fantastic 1:20:25 – brilliant running!
  • Lee did both HPH and his home town proud with a sub40 at the Sunderland 10K!
  • Four Harriers braved the chilly conditions at the Leeds 5K series, with Gordon breaking another record in 22:58! Well done all!
  • Chloe B completed 82 miles of the Ultra Trail Cape Town – a staggering achievement from our Africa correspondent!
  • Rob B took on the stunning Florence Marathon – definitely a contender for most scenic race by a Harrier this month!
  • Slightly less scenic but always a highlight of the HPH calendar, we finished the month with more than 50 Harriers taking on the Abbey Dash. Perfect conditions led to some fantastic racing, with many PBs and superb performances – well done everyone, and thanks to the many who came out to support!

A really inspiring month – such a variety of achievements, contributions and performances. Makes me proud to be HPH and I hope you feel the same!
