With lots of parkruns called off at short notice due to the unexpected icy conditions, numbers of parkrunning Hyde Park Harriers were well down this week. Overall there were 33 HPH women and 34 HPH men out parkrunning across 31 venues worldwide.

Seventeen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course – nine at the York Community Woodland. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Nairn Links in Scotland by Emma Amor.

Nairn parkrun course is three anti-clockwise laps on permanent paths around the car park of Nairn Golf Club. Nairn is a bit more interesting than the parkrun course. Nairn is known as a golfing destination, with two 18-hole Championship golf courses. The Nairn Golf Club was established in 1887. It has hosted many tournaments culminating in the 1999 Walker Cup and was the venue for the 2012 Curtis Cup. Paganism, Wicca, or Witchcraft has a long history in in Nairn. In nearby Elgin, east of the cathedral exists the Order Pot, a deep pool of water used to test the witches of Nairn up to 1560. Over fifty people were tried and killed within two miles of Nairn, including Issobel Nicoll, Margaret Wilsone and Allexander Ledy in the 16th and 17th century as witches and warlocks. Charlie Chaplin used to holiday every year in Nairn and stayed at the Newton Hotel. Tilda Swinton, actress and her children have resided in Nairn since 2007.

There were no first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. Highest finish was 2nd by Amy Ramsden-Young in 20:40 at Monsal Trail. There were two PBs. These were by Aisling Davis with 23:37 at Finsbury and Manesha Chauhan with 29:21 at Exmouth.

Holly Imisson joined the parkrun 25 club with her run at Rothwell.

Top female Age Grade% was 72.47% by Amy Ramsden-Young at Monsal Trail and top male Age Grade% was 74.10% by Nick Shakhlevich on his first run at York Community Woodland.
