This week there were 55 HPH women and 74 HPH men out parkrunning across 47 venues worldwide.
Thirty-seven Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Rickmansworth by Charlie Jackett and Bay East Garden in Singapore by Rosalie Dang.
Rickmansworth parkrun course is a flat, clockwise three laps run entirely on a combination of tarmac and footpaths within Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Rickmansworth Aquadrome is a 101-acre public park and Local Nature Reserve in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. There are two lakes, which were created by the extraction of gravel for the original Wembley Stadium; Batchworth Lake is used for water skiing and Bury Lake is used by Bury Lake Young Mariners for sailing and canoeing. The site has a diverse range of wildlife habitats. It has small copper and gatekeeper butterflies, areas of woodland with trees such as oaks and willows; and many birds including herons and moorhens.
Bay East Garden parkrun is a double out and back course following the picturesque skyline of the Gardens. The route is completely flat. The Bay East Garden is one of three parks forming the Gardens by the Bay – an urban park spanning 260 acres in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. Gardens by the Bay was part of the nation’s plans to transform its “Garden City” to a “City in a Garden”, with the aim of raising the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Aisling Davis in 22:046 at Armley and Rob Macdowell in a PB time of 18:03 at Torvean. There were four other PBs. These were by Daniel Allison with 22:25 at Woodhouse Moor; Thomas Moulding with 17:12 and William Watkins with 26:58 at Potternewton; and Joe Lawley with 24:39 at Castle Woods.
Megan Foster joined the parkrun 100 club with her run at Roundhay.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.17% by Carol Rogers at Heaton and top male Age Grade% was 76.41% by Gordon Crawford at Wakefield Thornes.
