There were 55 HPH women, 57 HPH men and 1 undeclared HPH out parkrunning across 39 venues this week. Nineteen Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them one new venue was added to the HPH list. This was Stockley Country by Monika Pugeviciute. Stockley Country Park is part of a new development just to the north of Heathrow Airport. It used to be an area of disused sand, clay and gravel pits, interspersed with piggeries and nurseries. The 350-acre site was transformed in the late 1980s into a commercial science park set in a landscaped country park, with an 18-hole public golf course. It is one of London’s largest public parks and open spaces to be created in the 20th century and is touted as an example of what can be achieved by public/private partnerships at no cost to the local community.
There was only one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier this week. This Vicky Houghton in 25:32 at Middleton Woods. There were twelve PBs. These were by Alexander Perkin with 21:40, Jonathan Carpenter with 21:50 and Tom McNeillie with 22:02 at Woodhouse Moor; Simon McGrath with 20:20 at Warrington; Jane Prust with 27:00 and Stephen Prust with 33:07 at Rothwell; Alice Young with 24:10 at Mile End; Nicki Derrick ith 28:03 at Temple Newsam; Joe Lawley with 22:54 at Fort William; Stuart Harris with 31:31 at Conyngham Hall; Dan Waas with 26:01 at Doddington Hall; and Andrew Nicholls with 23:33 at Foro Italico.
Jed Moore joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor and William Watkins joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Dunedin in New Zealand.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.95% by Jane Prust at Rothwell and top male Age Grade% was 73.83% by Gordon Crawford at Woodhouse Moor.
