There were 59 HPH women and 61 HPH men out parkrunning across 50 venues worldwide this week.

Thirty-one Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were FeldyRoo Fitness Trail in Aberfeldy in Scotland, by Emma Amor; and Judarskogen in Sweden by Jane ad Stephen Prust.

The FeldyRoo Fitness Trail is a community project from the Feldy Roo group, which was set up to deliver thousands of hot meals across Highland Perthshire at the height of the pandemic. Aberfeldy is aspiring to be Scotland’s Healthiest Town and the new Fitness Trail and associated parkrun is helping towards achieving that aim. Aberfeldy is also one of the best places to see European beavers in the wild.

The parkrun course is three flat laps on a mixture of trail and grass, partly alongside the River Tay.

Aberfeldy is the location of the poem “The Birks of Aberfeldy” by Robert Burns. I’m sure Emma Amor is a bonnie lassie so it’s quite appropriate. 🙂

Judarskogen parkrun takes place in the Judarskogen nature reserve in the Bromma suburb of Stockholm. The area of Judarskogen was established in the early 20th century as a nature park. Judarskogen became an outdoor reserve in 1932 and since 1995 it has been a nature reserve. The reserve is named after the lake Judarn, which is located in the middle of the area. The parkrun course is two laps through meadows, forest paths and an avenue of trees within the nature reserve.

There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Clare Slorach in 20:41 on her first time at Pontefract. There were seven PBs. These were by Lydia Williams with 32:07 at Arrow Valley; Nick Shakhlevich with 23:21 at Harrogate; Daniel Richardson with 20:45 at South Shields; Sam Edwards with 29:23 at Bramley; and Jonah Kennedy with 17:22, Thomas Moulding with 17:26 and Emily Martinson with 22:30 at Potternewton.

Sam Townson joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor. Although not an official parkrun club achievement, Steve Brown reached an impressive 300 parkruns with his run at Shipley Country.

Top female Age Grade% was 72.95% by Jane Prust at Judarskogen and top male Age Grade% was 74.66% by Jonah Kennedy at Potternewton.
