There were 63 HPH women and 64 HPH men out parkrunning across 51 venues worldwide this week.
Forty-nine Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Three of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Battlestead Croft in Burton-on-Trent by Caroline Young and John Blatherwick; Clonbur Woods in Ireland by William Dow; and Sabine in Italy by Amber Edwards.
Battlestead Croft parkrun course is three laps predominately on grass, around the grounds of Burton Rugby Football Club. The start and finish are both near the clubhouse. Burton Rugby Football Club was formed in 1870 and as such is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world. The club played at Peel Croft in Burton-on-Trent, from 1910 until it moved to the new ground at Battlestead Croft in Tatenhill in 2020.
Clonbur Woods parkrun course is out and back on a managed woodland trail. It takes in rivers, lakeside and woodland views. The start and finish are close to the village of Clonbur in County Mayo.
The Sabine parkrun course is three laps around the Parco delle Sabine that is being constructed in the Porta di Roma – Colle Salario district in the north east of Rome. During the excavations for the construction of the Porta di Roma district that houses the Parco delle Sabine, numerous ancient finds have been discovered including the remains of villas, farmhouses and even a mosaic, now exhibited inside the nearby Porta di Roma shopping centre.
There were four first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in 19:35 at Heslington; Megan Foster in 25:12 at Middleton Woods; George Anderson in 18:33 at Talkin Tark Country Park; and William Dow in 21:08 at Clonbur Woods. There were eleven PBs. These were by Andrew Black with 18:48 at Woodhouse Moor; Ellie Sharp with 23:59 at York; Vicky Houghton with 24:49 at Pontefract; Andrew Carrier with 18:42 at Heslington; Sam Edwards with 31:58 at Middleton Woods; Jonathan Pryor with 28:04 at Potternewton; Dan Stevenson with 17:38 at Alvaston; Simon McGrath with 19:59 at Alexandra; Frazer Carr with 16:16 at Storeys Field; Joe Lawley with 22:32 at Talkin Tarn Country Park; and Jason Newell with 26:08 at Vermuyden Way.
Claire Lyons joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 76.85% by Clare Slorach at Heslington and top male Age Grade% was 79.71% by Frazer Carr at Storeys Field.
