There were 50 HPH women and 62 HPH men out parkrunning across 48 venues worldwide this week.
Twenty-seven Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list with both being in Ireland. These were was Mungret by Alys Griffiths and Laytown Beach by Chris Worfolk.
Mungret parkrun is four laps on tarmac paths around Mungret Park in Mungret, County Limerick. The playground at Mungret Park is a favourite among locals with play equipment suitable for both able and non able bodied children and a sensory area for children on the autistic spectrum. Adult exercise equipment and benches are being provided along the perimeter of the park. There is also a dedicated dog friendly area within the park.
Laytown Beach in County Meath is the site of Ireland’s only horse racing event run on a beach under the Rules of Racing. The first recorded race meeting in Laytown was in 1868. The races take place on the strand for one day every September. The strand course is a straight near-level course over six and seven furlong distances. The parkrun course is also out-and-back on Laytown Beach. It is run entirely on sand.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Reuben Keating in a PB time of 17:09 at Torbay Velopark and Clare Slorach in 21:18 at Roundhay. There were five other PBs. These were by Alexandra Natalie Smith with 25:51 at Pontefract; Abi Thornley with 29:40 at Temple Newsam; Clare Evans with 24:45 and Jason Newell with 30:12 at Chevin Forest; and Curtis Parker-Milnes with 27:07 at Hamsterley Forest.
Matthew Drake joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor as did Douglas Blackwood with his run at Roberts Park. Abdu Ahmed joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor. Jack Rose joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Heslington. Clare Maxwell joined the parkrun 500 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 74.07% by Jane Prust at Albert and top male Age Grade% was 77.10% by Rupert Jordan at Whitley Bay.
