There were 61 HPH women and 70 HPH men out parkrunning across 59 venues worldwide this week.

Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Riverside Park in Glenrothes (not to be confused with Riverside parkrun in Riverside Park, Chester-le-Street) by Emma Amor. Riverside Park is a large town park that straddles the River Leven. It has numerous pleasant woodland walks, floral gardens, a pond, community orchard and an arboretum. The park also has several equipped play areas, numerous town art sculptures, adventure play areas, skateboard ramps, seasonal toilets and fitness equipment. Some of the park’s town art was gifted to Glenrothes by its twin town Boblingen, Germany. The park previously formed much of the landscaped grounds and gardens associated with Leslie House – the former seat of the Earls of Rothes for over 250 years. Leslie House was substantially damaged by fire in 2009, but is currently undergoing restoration and upon completion will once again be a significant landmark in the western portion of Riverside Park. The parkrun course is on a mix of tarmac, resin and trail with some moderate undulations. From the start the route proceeds alongside the south side of the River Leven before turning right, crossing a bridge, and heading back along the north side of the river where a lap of the pond will be completed. A smaller lap will then be completed before the route retraces the outward section on the south side of the river back to the finish (close to the start).

There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Amy Ramsden-Young in 20:18 at Castle Park, Bishop’s Stortford and Frazer Carr in 16:58 at Great Denham.

There were nine PBs. These were by Daniel Allison with 22:26 at Woodhouse Moor; Aisling Davis with 23:51 at Harrogate; Hollie Imisson with 28:48 at Rothwell; Nigel Wallis with 21:35 at Nobles; Daniel Clayton with 18:56 at Keswick; Judith Meadows with 33:17 at Druridge Bay; Paul Ramsden with 23:50 at Castle Park; Kay Jefferies with 42:37 at Talkin Tarn Country Park; and Stuart Harris with 36:19 at Westpark.

Charlie Jackett and Curtis Parker-Milnes joined the parkrun 250 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor.

Top female Age Grade% was 73.89% by Amy Ramsden-Young at Castle Park and top male Age Grade% was 76.42% by Frazer Carr at Great Denham.
