There were 46 HPH women and 62 HPH men out parkrunning across 43 venues worldwide this week.
Seventeen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Maesteg by Sam Dooley and Broadmeadow Linear in Ireland by Chris Worfolk.
Maesteg parkrun takes place in Maesteg Welfare Park. This is a picturesque park that was originally developed by local miners to provide a peaceful green space for mineworkers and their families against the industrial backdrop of the valley. The park includes rugby pitches, bowling greens, tennis courts, formal bedding and tree lined paths. It also contains an interactive oak sculpture called Keeper of the Valley of a man in a coat with a stick and a dog. The course is four mainly flat laps on a mixture of tarmac and gravel paths within the park.
Broadmeadow Linear Park is a small park in Swords, County Dublin, along the Broadmeadow River. The parkrun course is just over three laps on a tarmac path around the perimeter of the park and Miller’s Glen Lake.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Clare Slorach in 21:29 at Bramley. There were eight PBs. These were by Lydia Williams with 35:30 at Worcester Pitchcroft; Honor Baldry with 22:33, Nathan Jeffs with 22:43 and Daniel Allison with 25:17 at Roundhay; Vicky Houghton with 26:52 at Clumber Park; Emma Amor with 28:04 at Kirkwall; Alys Griffiths with 25:03 at Park in the Past; and Dominic O’Key with 20:44 at Brook Leys.
There were no new members of the official parkrun clubs, but Tami Bond reached 111 parkruns with her run at Lister Park; Stephen Prust reached 222 parkruns with his run at Horton Park; and Chris Jones reached 777 parkruns with his run at Sewerby.
Top female Age Grade% was 70.44% by Clare Slorach on her first run at Bramley and top male Age Grade% was 73.12% by Colin Tranter at Woodhouse Moor.
