There were 60 HPH women and 67 HPH men out parkrunning across 45 venues worldwide this week.

Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Three of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Seewoog in Germany by Cara Gates; Bo’ness Foreshore in Scotland by Emma Amor; and Parrs Park in New Zealand by Sinead O’Hara.

Seewoog is a small artificial lake in Ramstein-Miesenbach in the district of Kaiserslautern. The lake is surrounded by forests and wetlands which are popular with hikers and cyclists. The parkrun course is a 5km loop starting and ending at Lake Seewoog. It takes in forest trails, gravel trails, a little asphalt and has a few hilly areas. If you visit Seewoog in mid June you have the opportunity to take in the weekend long Seewoogfest. Bands provide entertainment. They play rock, German rock, folk, German Schlager and pop music. Food and beverages are available throughout the festival weekend.

Bo’ness Foreshore parkrun takes place along the south bank of the River Forth. The flat course is a small loop followed by an out and back. The course is fully paved with the exception of a small section on trail at the turn. A section of the course goes alongside the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway – a heritage railway that runs ten mile return trips on steam trains at weekends from April to October. Bo’ness is also home to the recently refurbished Hippodrome Cinema, which is the oldest picture house in Scotland.

Parrs Park is a public recreational and sporting facility in Oratia, West Auckland, New Zealand. Visitors can enjoy the park’s many walking trails, picnic areas, gardens and wild-flower meadows. The northern part of the park includes a large dog off-leash area, as well as a table tennis club and swimming pool. The southern half of the park is a thriving sports park with grassed fields and an artificial turf accommodating football and cricket throughout the year. A skate path and half pipe skate ramp, as well as exercise equipment, toilets and changing rooms, basketball half courts and several drinking fountains are also found in the park. There is a large all-ages playground named Apple Box after the Oratia Beauty, a well-known local apple variety. The parkrun course is an out-and-back route which is run twice. The course is entirely within the park. It is mainly hard-pack with a loose surface in many places. The course runs through the off-leash dog area and dogs may be present around the course.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Tami Bond in 34:00 at Aspen; Cara Gates in 23:26 at Seewoog; and Thomas Moulding in 18:50 at Potternewton. There were three PBs. These were by Nathan Jeffs with 21:12 at Woodhouse Moor; Adam Sumnall with 24:22 at York; and Edward Hale with 19:16 at Bowling Park.

There were no new members of the official parkrun clubs, but Thomas Moulding reached 200 parkruns with his run at Potternewton and Cara Gates reached 300 parkruns with her run at Seewoog.

Top female Age Grade% was 75.73% by Clare Slorach on her first run at York and top male Age Grade% was 75.77% by Gordon Crawford on his first run at Horton Park.
