There were 57 HPH women and 66 HPH men out parkrunning across 55 venues worldwide this week.
Thirty-three Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these was new to the HPH list. This was Cofton Park in Birmingham by Manesha Chauhan.
Cofton Park is located in south Birmingham. Set in 135 acres of rolling fields, open grassland and trees, Cofton Park offers visitors a variety of recreational activities. As well as boasting stunning oak and ash trees the open space is ideal for dog walkers, wildlife spotters, picnics in the Summer and, on snowy winter days, its many slopes make it a magnet for sledging. The land was acquired by Birmingham City Council in 1933 for £10,640 from the trustees for William Walter Hinde. In his will, he bequeathed the residue of his estate “for the purchase of land … to be kept for ever as an open space for the benefit of the people of Birmingham”. The park is used for civic occasions, the city centre floral display, and Heart of England in Bloom and gardening shows such the Chelsea Flower Show and since 1996, BBC Gardeners’ World Live. The parkrun course is one large lap, and one small lap, all on grass.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in 21:13 at North Yorkshire Water Park; and Frazer Carr in 19:04 at Kilkenny in Ireland. There were three PBs. These were by Kevin Longmate with 21:49 at Middleton Woods; Gregor Lawson with 21:01 at Hampstead Heath; and Joe Lawley with 26:02 at Oriam.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.64% by Clare Slorach at North Yorkshire Water Park and top male Age Grade% was 73.78% by Lucas Johnstone at Sizewell.
