Apperley Bridge Canter 2017
Thursday 1st June and it was time for round 3 of the club Off Road Championship at the Apperley Bridge Canter. A roughly 10k route which has a mixture of road, gravel, grass and hills which I seemed to have forgotten. It was a very warm evening as well but we had a massive turnout of 41 members (19 men and 22 ladies) which was the biggest club turnout on the night.
1st Harrier home and claiming his 3rd class win in the 1st division out of 3 rounds was Michael Vargas in 10th overall. Its been a great start to the year for him and looking good for the division as long as work doesn’t clash later in the year.
Adam Lomas was having his first off road outing of the year and it turned into a good night. 21st overall and top scorer in the club 2nd division. Less then 30 seconds behind him was Robert Howard in 27th and taking 2nd place points in the 2nd division which puts him 2nd after 3 rounds.
Only 1 place behind and claiming top points in the premier division was Chris Smith on his first Off Road outing of the year. It was a race long battle with Scott Watson who was last years Club Competitor champion and it was a welcome return to action.
Next Harrier home and leading the premier division after 3 rounds was Chris Jones. As always there was some great runs through out the field and good to see some first time scorers and Andrew Mitchell having his first ever outing in the club vest having only picked it up minutes before. Also scoring well was Chris Bracchi who is leading the 2nd division after the first 3 rounds.
First lady home and claiming her 2nd premier division maximum points haul from the 2 rounds she has entered was Rebecca Gray in 79th place.
Next up in 109th and her 1st off road outing bringing her top points in the 2nd division was Amy Young. 3rd harrier home and also on her first off road outing of the year was Nichola Moreland.
Top points in the 1st division for the 3rd time in 3 rounds was Honor Baldry while Jane-Marie Bracchi is leading the 2nd division after 3 rounds and picked up some more good points here.
Brilliant running everyone. Thanks to Anne and Noel Akers for the action pics and we all loved waving all our runners home with our new tea towels. Results and championship positions below the pics –
