Berlin Marathon 2016 – Jack Rose

My Dad and I decided to enter the Berlin Marathon this year to tick completing a marathon off his bucket list of “things to do when I’ve retired”. We choose Berlin so we could visit the area where my late Gran grew up and because of our fondness of the city.

The run started well and I felt comfortable for the first 30km. But as the day progresses and the temperature rose, I began to burn out and slowed to little more than a walk for the final 10km.

My brother who had been tracking our progress online and was worried I’d beat his previous time drew a deep sigh of relief. Unfortunately. I guess I’ll have to enter another to finally take the family title!
