Bluebell Trail 2017

The Bluebell trail welcomed 18 Harriers (9 men and 9 ladies) for the 2nd round of the club Off Road Championship.  The race is a mixture of trails, footpaths, towpaths, cobbled streets and the odd hill and river crossing.  Trooper lane leads up to some amazing views and the last couple of miles does take you through the woods with lots of Bluebells.

This year the weather was good and the river was a lot lower than last year, and for a change all Harriers made the pre race photo.

The fastest HPH around the 10.3 mile course and claiming 4th overall was Michael Vargas in a time of 1.10.46. It was a great performance and his second top point score in the 1st division from the first 2 rounds.

Aron Hinds continued his good form coming home 28th in a time of 1.19.32 and claimed 2nd place in the 1st division.  3rd Harrier and 3rd in the 1st division was Jack Rose who has scored in both rounds.  Jack was delighted to finish 18 minutes and 130 places better than last year, coming home in 33rd and a time of 1.20.35.

Robert Howard was next home in 1.25.24 and claimed top points in the 2nd division, while Chris Jones was next in 1.27.33 taking top points in the premier division and winning his age class at the event.  This gives Chris joint lead of the Premier division with Richard Edwards.

Graeme Miles has taken an early lead in the 2nd division after taking 2nd place points here.  Other Harrier men scoring were Paul Dickens who felt it was hard to pace when your worried how much more hill there might be.  Richard took 15 minutes off last year and Chris Bracchi loved it and pleased to come in under 2 hours.

Honor Baldry was first HPH lady home in 190th place and a time of 1.40.08.  This was her 2nd top score in the 1st division this year.

Jane-Marie Bracchi has taken the early lead in the 2nd division coming home 2nd HPH lady and taking top 2nd division points in a time of 1.48.13.  She was pleased with the time and the fact the river was low.

Julia Herterich was just over 30 seconds back before Matilda Rhodes came in with a time of 1.50.47, having really enjoyed it having thought it was a challenge but extremely well organised.

Laura Arendsen and Denise Hofman came home 5 seconds apart in 298th and 299th.  Heather Fulton, Jo Rhodes and Samantha Scarlett all putting in strong runs and scored some great early season points.

Great to see all the harriers stay to the end cheering each other in, great T-shirt and we look forward to many more good days like this.
