Chevin Chase 2016
Boxing day saw 22 Harriers (11 men and 11 women) taking part in round 6 of the club off road championship at the Chevin Chase, all of which were happy to see that the weather was so much better than last year.
There was just the one Brownlee brother to chase down this year with Jonny coming home in first place.
The course over 7 miles offers some amazing views, some cracking hills, not too much mud apart from one bad section, but plenty of wind along the top and on the downhill road section which felt like you were being pushed backwards.
1st Harrier home in a cracking time of 45.33 was Ben Hartley. This was the first time Ben had appeared at an off road round this year and none of the Harriers were getting close to him as he took top points in the 1st division.
James Vickers was next home in 57.03 taking maximum points in the premier division and extending his lead in the championship.
Next home and first Harrier lady was Reena Mistry with an excellent 57.58 and top 2nd division points for her first score of the year.
In the rest of the ladies championship Rebecca Gray took top spot on the premier division which also put her top of the championship after her 3rd maximum score out of 3 outings. In the 1st division Clare Maxwell appeared for the first time and took top spot but Emma Amor extended her division lead with 2nd.
Back to the men and Scott Watson still leads the 1st division with none of the top 5 at the chevin, while Curtis Parker-Milnes was the only 2nd division scorer so Jack Rose still leads.

There are 3 races left all of which are in January with the Yorkshire XC, Temple Newsam 10 and PECO 3 finishing the year. Plenty to play for.
