HPH Blog and HOTM for July

July saw ‘summer’ for us runners at HPH. Whilst it lacked the typical sun and dry weather which we all love to get out in for running adventures and races it did give us the opportunity to try out any waterproofs and new trail shoes that’d normally be locked away in the cupboard for the summer.

We saw a number of fell races, trail races and road races in July, whether as part of our champs, or as part of some other challenges you’ve signed up to. We also saw both the 5km track day and the Ultra Tour of North Bar this month, which gave our members and friends the opportunity to explore their limits on the track and in ultra marathons / beer drinking! Well done to everyone for your performances over the month.

Without further ado, here’s our winners! Well done to Claire Hougham and Adam Lomas!!

Claire was nominated for her absolutely outstanding weekend of running where she ran 100km in 23 hours in the Race to the Stones event. She’s trained so hard for this event, and really committed to a full weekend of back to back running. Well done Claire!

Adam was nominated for the Chair’s Award for his performance at the Ilkley Half marathon this month. His time of 1:13:13 smashed the club record by over 2 minutes, and on a really hilly course, too. Amazing work Adam.

• Frazer Carr – Chair’s Award (performance): A brilliant performance at the Snowdon Trail Ultra – amazing stuff!
• Steve Brown– Chair’s Award (performance): Well done Steve on a cracking performance at Punk Panther’s Otley High Views!
• Claire Hougham – Chair’s Award (performance):
  • Claire’s incredible Race to the Stones – 100km in under 23 hours!
  • Claire did the race to the stones ultra marathon recently, kudos for the big effort of completing such a long distance!
• James Tarbit – President’s Award (club contribution): Organising and leading a second successful year of the UTNB – a great day out!
• Grace Roberts – President’s Award (club contribution): Grace did a brilliant job of organising the 5KM track day; a really fun day whether you were running, volunteering or spectating – thanks Grace!
• Curtis Broadhead – President’s Award (club contribution): Curtis has stepped up to lead at the last minute on several occasions recently. He does so with a smile and enthusiasm and is always happy to help when we are short on leaders, often sacrificing his own run in a faster group to make sure others don’t miss out. Thank you Curtis.
• Adam Lomas – Chair’s Award (performance): For not just breaking the club half marathon record, but for absolutely demolishing it by 2 and a half minutes!! 1.13.13 is a phenomenal time for a half, well done Adam!
• Joseph Elmes – Chair’s Award (performance): For getting himself a shiney new pb at the Ilkley half. All that training is paying off!
• Muyang Hu – Chair’s Award (performance): For getting herself a new pb at the Ilkley half. Well done Muyang!
• Vicky Houghton – Chair’s Award (performance): Vicky is smashing all he races and parkrun. She got a big PB at Eccup and is running really well while increasing her mileage

Well done to all our nominees this month, as always, a great set of achievements and fabulous feats for HPH. Don’t forget to get your nominations in regularly for any HPH members who have contributed to the club that month, in any shape or form!
