HPH Chair’s Blog and HOTM for March
March’s HOTM winners were Ciaran Tracey and Jaz Bangerh.
Jaz was nominated for working so hard with suppliers to put together some great options for kit to make HPH an even more inclusive club. Jaz has also worked with Clare and our kit suppliers to tidy up the way members order kit. This will make our membership fee more inclusive and our kit range more streamlined. Not to mention it’ll make the finances easier to track, too. Smashing! Thanks Jaz. Can’t wait to spot even more HPH out these in races in their swanky new short and long sleeve tshirts.

Ciaran Tracey was nominated because he’s absolutely on fire at the moment and ran an incredible 5K PB at the March Brownlee races. He trains hard and has done for a while, and it continues to pay off – scary, and incredible stuff!
Here are March’s other nominees:
- Mike Vargas: Not content with a storming performance across the HPH championship season, Mike has kept up his blistering form with a third place finish at the We Need to Talk About Chevin race – well done mate!
- Meghan Bentley: Meghan smashed the sub90 barrier at the Wilmslow half – fantastic running!
- Jonah Kennedy: Jonah has been doing some serious training for the London Marathon but found the time to set a new PB, dipping into sub17, at the Brownlee 5K race this month!
- Clare Evans: For quietly and efficiently registering 199 HPH members in March! Every year Clare does such a brilliant job of being membership secretary that she makes my job so easy. She just gets on with it and is such a wonderful person to work with. HPH owes you so much. Thanks Clare xx
- Adam Lomas: For coming 2nd at Wakefield 9.7k
- Flick Burton: For coming 3rd at Wakefield 9.7k
- Emily Martinson: Absolutely smashing her 5k PB and getting First Lady at Woodhouse Moor parkrun
- Nicola Forwood: Nicola never fails to inspire me with her determination, grit endurance. She took on 5 marathons in 5 days in March despite numerous injury and health circumstances that seemed to be conspiring against her including an infected root canal that resulted in two types of antibiotics! This did not stop Nicola giving the first marathon a go and then the other four, successfully completing them all! I had entered the marathon on day 5 and it was great to watch her videos leading up to my Good Friday event. Despite having not started training for my May Road marathons, I knew if Nicola could do her 5 in 5 challenge, I could get route the 4 lapped trail route course, channelling inspiration from her. It was also ace in true HPH support, to find her back at the finish area, long after she had finished, to welcome me over the finish line, hug and take pictures. Nicola to me really does say Ain’t No Barriers and so I am nominating her for that award and HOTM for March 2024.
- Steve Brown: Completing the Woldsman 50 – well done Steve!
