HPH Chair’s Update and Harrier of the Month for July

Running is back, races are back, the Summer is back (is it?), and there are socials on the horizon. What a month July has been!

Don’t forget that in August there’s a number of socials you can get involved with, as well as running. They’re listed below for your information. Let us know by email or on the Facebook events if you’re coming.

• 8th August 2pm WHM picnic in the park
• 8th August: WHM ultramarathon laps. 3 laps of WHM every hour for 12 hours (yes, that’s 36 miles!)
• 21st August HPH takeover at WHM parkrun, 9am
• 28-30th August – HPH festival of parkrun
• 9th October HPH takeover at WHM parkrun, 9am

In terms of running, there’ve been This month’s Harrier of the Month nominations were:

• Claire Hougham for her Solo Endure 24 success where she ran 40 miles in 40 hours DURING A THUNDERSTORM! Claire is such an unsung hero of HPH and we think she’s awesome. You can read about her weekend at Ensure 24 here: https://www.hydeparkharriers.co.uk/endure-24-solo/
• Paul Ramsden and Paul Milligan for running 100 miles with over 10,000m of ascent at the Val D’Aran race in the Pyrenees in a time of 46 hours, to be back just in time for a nap and to watch England in the Euros final.
• Danni Bryant, one of HPHs newest Committee members, was nominated for her awesome 10km PB at York 10km this weekend.
• Nicola Forwood was nominated for her numerous ultra marathons over the last few months, culminating in a 105km ultra in the pouring rain. What commitment it takes to undertake such a thing: well done Nicola for all your grit, fitness and sheer determination (and for her awesome videography and blogs, too!).
• Debbie Brown and Emily Tasker were voted for by our leaders as ‘HPH Leaders of the Year’ – they’ve won themselves both a place at the Run Through 10km in August so be sure to cheer them on if you are marshaling or running at Roundhay.

Our winners this month are the Paul’s (we couldn’t choose a favourite!) and Claire! Mega effort to you all – a strong month for competition for the others. Well done.
