HPH Club Competitor

The Club Competitor of the Year is a competition within the club that goes some way to meeting three aspects of the Club Ethos by:

• encouraging members to compete to the best of their ability,
• encouraging members to get involved in local races and;
• recognising the achievements of individuals at all levels

Unlike the Club Championship which seeks to establish who in the club has run the fastest at designated races, the format recognises those athletes that have regularly represented the club throughout the year.

The Club Competitor of the Year takes place annually during eleven months from April until the end of February in line with the UK Athletics calendar.  There is a separate Club Competitor of the Year competition for men and women.

The 2017/18 Championship was won by Samantha Scarlett and Richard Edwards.

All first claim members who have paid their Club subscriptions in full and completed a designated race will be awarded one point.

The competition for 2018/19 is based on participation on 45 races. These are ten designated road races, ten designated off road races, ten designated fell races, 5 x PECO cross country races, 2 long relays (Calderdale and LCW), 3 short relay (Golden Acre, Washburn and Danefield ), 2 extra cross country events (Yorkshire and  Northern)  and our own Summer Mile race.  We will also include one marathon and one Ultra but you must send in your result to the club email for it to count. All members who compete in any designated race will be awarded 1 point.  If there is a tie at the end of the year then we will recognise both or more competitor’s.

We will be using the official results. To claim your point you must be registered as yourself and as a Hyde Park Harrier, so please register as Hyde Park Harriers and notify the organisers of any error or omission.  You must also be classed as a finisher.

In all respects the decision of the committee is final.
