HPH parkrun Championships parkrunday 45

There were a whopping 67 Hyde Park Harriers out parkrunning at fifteen different venues around the world his weekend. These included Sue Smith who popped up in Uvongo, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and Nicola Forwood and Poppy who parkran at Blenheim in New Zealand. Both were the first Hyde Park Harriers to parkrun at these locations.

There were only two PBs this week. These were by Samantha Scarlett with 24:57 and Matilda Rhodes with 25:56, both at Roundhay.

Anthony Aimon tells me he would have been at least a minute quicker than he was down in Oxford this week. It seems a farmer came on to the course with his tractor and blocked it about 3.5 km in. Everyone except the first runner, including Anthony, was held up until the tractor moved a minute or two later. It reminds me of the time someone parked their van on the Woodhouse Moor course near the Queen Victoria statue after the run had started. Fortunately in that case a bit of quick thinking by Sam Dooley meant the parkrunners were marshalled onto the path round the back of the statue avoiding the hazard. Not every parkrun course has a Sam Dooley though.
