Hyde Park Harriers Abroad – Canada

The run – 5k Father’s Day run for prostate cancer research.

The place – Mission Creek, Kelowna, BC, Canada.

Volunteers had set up ready for registration at 8am and the band struck up a chord. A beautiful sunny day, 16 degrees by 9am. Perfect for a run. Everyone in the charity colour blue, a moment to reflect on those who have been affected by cancer, a group warm up and then we set off. Alongside the creek all the way, with a few trees offering some shade. Other runners, dog walkers, cyclists were using the park – so much like a parkrun…just warmer and more Canadians! Medals for all as we crossed the finish line…made of chocolate, perfect! (Would have melted if not eaten straight away…well, that was my excuse!) A mix up with the cooking arrangements meant muffins instead of pancakes but spot prizes and more music from the band made for a fantastic morning.
