Hyde Park Life

I’ve been running with Hyde Park Harriers for nearly a year and I’ve been loving it. Going to Hyde Park Harriers has been helping me get better times at parkrun and run club. I even got a new parkrun PB of 31:34 which I’m really chuffed about. My goal is to get under 30 minutes which it does look like I am going to reach this goal.

Thank you to all the group leaders and thank you for everyone who gives me lifts there and back home. I love being part of Group 2.

I ran my first 10K race the Cookridge Community Run. The Cookridge Community Run is set up by Cancer Research UK and many other organisations. It’s also set up in the name of Gareth Dunn who passed away with cancer. David who is one of the organisers of the charity and also the run asked me to be the local celebrity to start the kids funrun which was so much fun as I entered the 10K. Running the 10K was really fun and got all the support from my loving dad as we were running with each other and from my mates at Hyde Park Harriers at the finish line.

I took part in a few things with Hyde Park Harriers including Round the Clock, Round the Park and the 5K Track Session at the Headingley Track.

Round the Park, Round the Clock is running around Woodhouse Moor anti-clockwise and clockwise which was really fun. There was also a picnic which was lovely to socialise as well as running with each other. It takes place all day and I managed to run 3 5Ks which is equals to 15K. I was really pleased and so was my family.

The 5K Track Session in Headingley is a HPH run club event when you try to get a 5K PB on track. I didn’t get a PB but it was a good 34-minute time regarding how hot it was on the day as it was when the heatwave kicked in. It was still fun to see everyone and having a picnic with my friends.

HPH 5k track day

I love seeing my parkrun friends at HPH and making new friends that don’t go to parkrun which making new friends is one of my favourite things to do.

Thanks,

George
