Otley 10 mile

Round 4 of the club road championship and it was 20 harriers (11 men and 9 ladies) taking on the Otley 10 mile event on a Wednesday evening.

Its a challenging route, the first 3 miles are flat and fast before you then get into the hills.  Big climbs, quick descents before more climbs.  The final couple of miles is back to being fast again with a bottle of beer awaiting the finishers.

Philip Goose was 1st Harrier home in 21st place and took his 2nd max premier points from 2 starts.  Chris Smith leads the division at this stage having finished 3rd Harrier and 2nd division points.  Richard Edwards is up to 2nd.

 

With no Liam O’Brien at this round having won the 1st division at the first 3 rounds it was Scott Watson who put in a strong run to be 2nd Harrier home and take the top points.  This moves Scott up to 2nd in the division.

Jimmy Sheldon took maximum points in the 2nd division coming home in 66th and is up to 2nd in the division but still trails Aron Hinds who too 2nd place points here.

Special mention to Phil Hammond who came home in 352nd having run to Otley from Leeds so his 10 mile was 21 miles! Don’t worry he got a lift home.

1st lady home was Lois Gardner in 243rd place and she took top points in the 2nd division.  She now leads by 1 point from Heather Fulton who took 2nd place points.

Clare Evans took the top points in the 1st division and was 2nd home.  Lucy Rider was missing this round and her lead has been cut by Emma Amor who took 2nd place points.

 

3rd Harrier lady home and taking top points in the premier league on her first start of the year was Ruth Hancox.  Laura Cummings still leads without being here but we have a tie for 2nd place between Sarah Farnell and Clare Maxwell.
