There was a chance for a double dose of parkrun this week with Christmas Eve on parkrunday and many courses also having a special Christmas Day parkrun on Sunday. Over the two days 66 HPH Women and 69 HPH Men went parkrunning across 78 venues, with 36 HPH Women and 37 HPH Men parkrunning on both days. Of these 73 that ran on both days, 32 ran on the same course each day.
On Christmas Eve 57 HPH Women and 57 HPH Men went parkrunning across 51 different venues. Thirty Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst these two new courses were added to the current HPH list. These were Queenstown in New Zealand by William Watkins and Sunshine Beach in Otsu, Kyoto by Vikki Hawkins – her fifth parkrun course in Japan. Queenstown is a resort town that sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, set against the dramatic Southern Alps. Renowned for adventure sports such as skiing and snowboarding, jet boating, whitewater rafting, bungy jumping, mountain biking, skateboarding, tramping, paragliding and sky diving, it’s also a base for exploring the region’s vineyards and historic mining towns.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Frazer Carr at Great Yarmouth North Beach in 22:00 and Vikki Hawkins at Sunshine Beach in 34:06. There were eight PBs. These were by Poppy Forwood with 36:47 at Woodhouse Moor; Robin Culshaw with 24:03 at Coventry; Will Jeeps with 19:26 at Bradford; George Sullivan with 22:37 at Long Eaton; Alexander Perkin with 22:15 at Roundhay; Alice Young with 24:21 at Mile End; Stephen Prust with 35:52 at Glossop; and Jack Rose with 25:22 at Wollaton Hall.
Jake Harris joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Temple Newsam.
Top female Age Grade% was 69.59% by Hilary Lund at Pontefract and top male Age Grade% was 75.99% by Michael Vargas at Woodhouse Moor.

There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Frazer Carr at Rendlesham Forest in 18:25 and Rupert Jordan in 17:05 at Woodhouse Moor – two seconds slower than his previous first finish at Woodhouse Moor back on 25th May 2019. There were twelve PBs. These were by Sarah Underwood with 21:21 at Bedford; Poppy Forwood with 36:38 at Harrogate; Eleanor Williams with 27:14 at Wanstead Flats; Steve Worthington 27:53 at Ferry Meadows; Danni Bryant with 27:34 at Roundhay; Rosalie Dang with 29:03 at Sedgefield; George Sullivan with 22:44 at Forest Rec; Indi Lacey with 28:50 at Dalby Forest; Alex Greenwood with 24:45 and Laura Hastings with 29:35 at Witney; Graeme Miles with 26:37 at Chevin Forest; and William Watkins with 20:46 at Queenstown, New Zealand.
