There were 59 HPH women and 73 HPH men out parkrunning across 45 venues worldwide this week.
Twenty-five Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these were new to the HPH list. These were Ohno Gokurakuji Koen in Japan by Vikki Hawkins – she has now visited half of the 52 parkrun courses in Japan; and Broughty Ferry Esplanade near Dundee by Emma Amor.
Ohno Gokurakuji Park is a picturesque open space located in Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture, in the Nagoya metropolitan area. The park features biking paths, a baseball field, and a dog run. Cherry blossom trees add to its beauty. The park also provides opportunities for picnicking. The parkrun course is three laps entirely on paved paths.
Broughty Ferry’s fine seafront esplanade and sweeping sands provide the perfect place for a relaxing stroll or a quiet picnic. The beach offers excellent views across the Tay Estuary, where there is a host of wildlife to be seen including seals, birds and the occasional dolphin or porpoise. The parkrun course is a long out and back along the esplanade to the north followed by a shorter out and back to the south returning just beyond the start. It is run entirely on tarmac paths.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Euan Douglas in 18:27 on his first time at Conwy. There were six PBs. These were by Indi Lacy with 24:15 at Armley; Kevin Longmate with 22:42 at Middleton Woods; Sarah Roberts with 25:08 at Potternewton; George Sullivan with 21:44 at Victoria Embankment; Frazer Carr with 19:04 at Blickling; and Ellie Shipp with 29:09 at Talkin Tarn Country Park.
Euan Douglas joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Conwy.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.05% by Clare Slorach at Woodhouse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 74.44% by Gordon Crawford on his first time at Tramore Valley in Ireland.
