There were 55 HPH women and 64 HPH men out parkrunning across 51 venues this week.
Nineteen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them two new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Delftse Hout in the Netherlands by Jessica Wanless and Bear Creek Greenbelt in Keller, Texas, USA by Michael Vargas.
Delftse Hout parkrun is two laps around De Grote Plas lake in Delft in the Netherlands and includes beach and forest trails. The lake has its origins in the sand excavations performed to build new neighbourhoods in Delft. Swimming in the lake is usually allowed, but dogs are banned from the beach between April 1st and October 1st.
The Bear Creek Greenbelt parkrun course is a flat and twisty out and back on concrete paths through Bear Creek Park in Keller – a city within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. The course starts near the Keller Pointe Rec Centre which contains large indoor and outdoor swimming pools. No mention of bears in Bear Creek but the Rec Centre does hold an interesting “Doggie Dunk” event allowing dogs to compete in the pool in swimsuit and retrieving competitions.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. These were Clare Slorach in 22:19 at Roundhay and Michael Vargas in 17:32 at Bear Creek Greenbelt. There were fourteen PBs. These were by Emma Brown with 21:42 and Andrew Smallwood with 27:23 at Woodhouse Moor; Fiona Campbell with 29:31 at York; Russell Webster with 25:18 and Nicki Derrick with 25:48 at Rothwell; Tom Roper with 20:02 at Blickling; Naomi Miles with 24:28 at Nostell; Rupert Jordan with 18:16 at Jesmond Dene; Manseha Chauhan with 28:02 at Oaklands; Joe Lawley with 23:27, Vicky Houghton with 24:49, Richard Edwards with 27:33 and Sarah Jewers with 28:39 at Chevin Forest; and Chris Worfolk with 25:19 at Griffeen.
Daniel Allison joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor and Eleanor Williams joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Forest Rec.
Top female Age Grade% was 68.66% by Jane Prust at Wakefield Thornes and top male Age Grade% was 77.28% by Michael Vargas at Bear Creek Greenbelt.
