There were 50 HPH women and 49 HPH men out parkrunning across 53 venues this week.

Hyde Park Harriers clearly have parkruns in mind when they choose their summer holiday destinations because thirty-nine Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them a whopping six new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Lancing Beach Green – the latest south coast course by Andrew Nicholls, Squerryes Winery on the North Kent Downs by Jack Rose, Beacon Hill Country Park near Loughborough by Cara Gates, Old Railway Trail in Llangollen by Alys Griffiths, Vandeleur in Ireland by the girl in the camper van Poppy Forwood and Damhusengen in Denmark by Rob Riley.

Lancing Beach Green is an out and back course along the path adjacent to the beach at Lancing between Worthing and Shoreham-by-Sea.

Squerryes Winery parkrun is on private land within the 2500 acre vineyard near Westerham in Kent that has been producing award winning vintage sparkling wines for many years. I wonder if a vintage sparlking wine is a good recovery drink.

Beacon Hill Country Park is one of the Leicester Country Parks. Situated outside Loughborough it boasts magnificent views, woodland walks, and open heathland. It has a rhododendron labyrinth and many unique wooden sculptures. Sheep, alpacas and cattle help maintain the heathland. It has a new children’s play area complete with the hazel maze and log train in the Natural Play Area.

Old Railway Trail parkrun is to the east of Llangollen in North Wales. It is an out-and-back course along the old Ruabon to Llangollen railway line bed adjacent to the River Dee. It is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the UNESCO World Heritage Site associated with the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal.

Vandeleur parkrun is along the forest tracks around Vandeleur Walled Garden in Kilrush, County Clare. It is described as a hidden gem and one of Clare’s most beautiful botanical tributes to Ireland’s rich, natural history. It also has a dark side, being associated with the mass evictions that began in the 1840s during the Irish Famine period.

Damhusengen parkrun is in the outskirts of Copenhagen, conveniently located close to the last stop on the city’s metro line at Vanløse. The course is two laps around a peaceful meadow called Damhusengen. It is a popular site for running and walking. The start and finish is near a coffee and ice cream kiosk.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. These were Anna Stocks in 22:05 at Roundhay; Thomas Moulding in a PB time of 17:02 and Caroline Young in a PB time of 21:30 at Armley. There were four other PBs. These were by Conor Gould with 30:12 at Whitley Bay; Tobias Adkins with 18:29 at Dalby Forest; Vicky Houghton with 22:00 and Richard Cartwright with 22:37 at Armley.

Andrew Bassett joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Silksworth.

Top female Age Grade% was 70.44% by Helen Williams at Harrogate and top male Age Grade% was 78.58% by Michael Vargas at Armley.
