There were 57 HPH Women and 51 HPH Men out parkrunning across 37 different venues this week. Twenty-three Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new parkrun course and amongst these one new course was added to the current HPH list. This was a new London parkrun around the Lordship Recreation Ground in Tottenham by Rob Riley. The recreation ground opened in 1932, and includes a variety of facilities, including tennis courts and a small theatre. In 1938, the Minister of Transport opened a ‘Model Traffic Area’, a scaled-down road network where children can use model cars or cycles. The Model Traffic Area was designed to teach children about road traffic in a safe environment. The parkrun course is three laps of the park around the main field and through the Model Traffic Area.
There was one first finisher. It was Cara Gates in 25:47 on her first run at Lanark Moor. There were 12 PBs. These were by David Grearly with 20:21 and Tami Bond with 28:41 at Woodhouse Moor; Jed Moore with 21:38 at Eglinton; Alice Young with 24:26 at Mile End; Will Jeeps with 19:27 at Dulwich; Karly Stringer ith 26:29 at Cross Flatts; Emma Brown with 22:49 at Skipton; Matt Barton with 22:45, Alexander Perkin with 22:54 and Liam Edwards with 36:12 at Bramley; and Alexandra Natalie Smith with 24:25 and Louise Gardham with 32:05 at Roberts Park.
A special mention must go to ten-year-old Poppy Forwood who joined the Cowell club – parkruns at 100 different venues – with her run at Locke Park in Barnsley, taking in the recently added Fairy Garden next to spectacular art work based on the 1980s children’s films, Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth.
Abdu Ahmed joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 74.73% by Jane Prust at Ormeau and top male Age Grade% was 79.04% by Rupert Jordan at Woodhouse Moor.
