There were 61 HPH women and 62 HPH men out parkrunning across 38 venues this week.
Twenty-eight Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these was new to the HPH list. It was Oldbridge in Ireland by Chris Worfolk. The parkrun course is at the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, Oldbridge, Drogheda. The famous battle was fought on 11 July 1690 for control of a ford on the River Boyne near Drogheda, just north-west of the hamlet of Oldbridge. It was between the forces of the deposed King James II, and those of King William III who, with his wife Queen Mary II (his cousin and James’s daughter), had acceded to the Crowns of England and Scotland in 1689. It resulted in a victory for William. James fled to France after the Boyne, never to return. The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre at Oldbridge House is about one mile to the west of the main river crossing point.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in 20:36 at Roundhay and Thomas Moulding in 18:33 at Chevin Forest.
Andrew Nicholls joined the parkrun 500 club with his first run at Littlehampton Prom.
There were eleven PBs. These were by Aisling Davis with 22:34 at Woodhouse Moor; Karly Stringer with 29:31 at Wakefield Thornes; Sarah Jewers with 25:55 at Guildford; Nichola Moreland with 25:12 at Hillsborough; Jaz Bangerh with 38:57 at Skipton; Paul Robinson with 20:57 at and Kristan Webb with 28:30 at Potternewton; Richard Cartwright with 23:47, Ralph Kidner with 27:46 and Steve Brown with 28:43 at Chevin Forest; and Chris Jones with 22:54 at Roberts Park.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.82% by Clare Slorach at Roundhay and top male Age Grade% was 74.60% by Chris Jones at Roberts Park.
