There were 53 HPH women and 47 HPH men out parkrunning across 34 venues this week. Fifteen Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them one new course was added to the HPH list. This was Wynyard Woodland in Stockton-on-Tees by Liz and Chris Jones. Wynyard Woodland Park used to be an old railway track that carried freight along the River Tees. It now offers an excellent route for walking and cycling with paths extend into beautiful woodlands and a huge, newly established wildflower meadow. There is a cafe in the former Station House and a large adventure play area. The parkrun course starts at the cafe and is a flat out and back course, perfect for PBs. Wynyard Woodland Park also hosts a Willow Weaving Workshop. Here, you can learn the basics of willow weaving from experienced professionals who will help turn your ideas into reality and you’ll soon have your own handmade piece that you can take home. During your visit you pick your own willow and gain a brief insight into the history and importance of coppice woodland management. The park is also home to Wynyard Planetarium and Observatory which is run by the Cleveland and Darlington Astronomical Society and holds a a full programme of events on every other Friday evening.
The HPH men provided both first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. These were Rupert Jordan in 17:17 at Armley and Frazer Carr in 16:50 at Selby. There were twelve PBs. These were by Carol Rogers with 27:46 at Bushy; Thomas Moulding with 17:21 and George Webster with 30:55 at Woodhouse Moor; Tom Elcock with 22:46 at Brighouse; Jack Rose with 25:39 at Burgess; Heather Fulton with 30:54 at Skipton; Stephen Prust with 35:27 at Middleton Woods; Jason Newell with 30:54 at Bowling Park; Amy Ramsden-Young with 24:30 and Paul Ramsden with 25:13 at Chevin Forest; David Grealy with 21:14 at Knocknacarra in Ireland; and Tami Bond with 29:33 at Des Moines Creek, Washington State, USA.
Thomas Moulding joined the parkrun 100 club and James Booth joined the parkrun 250 club with their runs at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.70% by Hilary Lund at Pontefract and top male Age Grade% was 78.40% by Rupert Jordon at Armley.
