There were 54 HPH women and 62 HPH men out parkrunning across 44 venues this week.
Twenty-four Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them three new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Thonock Lane Farm in Gainsborough by Daniel Waas at their inaugural; Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown by Chris Worfolk; and Kiwanis in London, Canada by Sarah Jewers and Joe Lawley.
Thonock Lane Farm course is two laps around farm fields in the settlement of Thonock on the outskirts of Gainsborough. The course is flat, trail running and is adjacent to the privately owned Thonock Park – the home of two stunning 18-hole golf courses and a boutique hotel.
The Sport Ireland Campus is in Abbotstown in the western suburbs of Dublin. The campus is home to a number of sports venues, including the National Indoor Arena, National Aquatic Centre, and National Horse Sport Arena. Several national sports governing bodies, including the Gaelic Athletic Association, have sports facilities on the campus. Other Irish sports governing bodies, such as the Football Association of Ireland, Cycling Ireland, Triathlon Ireland and Sport Ireland, have their headquarters on the site. The parkrun course is cross country over two loops.
Kiwanis Park is in London, Ontario – the eleventh largest metropolitan area in Canada. Like its UK namesake London, Ontario is on the Thames river, both being named in 1793 after proposing the site for the capital city of Upper Canada, however it lost out to York (now Toronto). Kiwanis Park was developed in the 1950s on 34 acres of land that straddles Pottersburg Creek in East London. Amenities in the park include picnic groves, a shelter house, playground, ballfields, washrooms, and the recently completed Kiwanis Skateboard Plaza. The parkrun course is out-and-back along a multi-use paved pathway system that runs from one end of the park to the other.
There were no first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week, but there were 13 PBs. These were by Richard Knighton with 18:29, Curtis Broadhead with 18:39, Nigel Wallis with 19:59, Simon Burton with 21:40 and George Webster with 30:53 at Woodhouse Moor; Chloe Brooks with 24:25 at Fountains Abbey; Paul Robinson with 23:17 at Temple Newsam; Jane Prust with 28:58 at Cross Flatts; Andrew Bassett with 22:18 at Rising Sun; Honor Baldry with 22:43 at Parke; Will Jeeps with 20:45 at Peckham Rye; George Sullivan with 23:05 at Armley; and Alexander Perkin with 22:55 at Conyngham Hall.
Jessica Wanless joined the parkrun 25 club with her run at Burgess. Oliver Pryse joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Walmer and Deal Seafront. Sarah Markless joined the parkrun 100 club with her run at Roundhay. Nicki Derrick joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Normanby Hall.
Top female Age Grade% was 69.97% by Jane Prust at Cross Flatts and top male Age Grade% was 74.22% by Chris Jones at Heslington.
