There were 46 HPH women and 56 HPH men out parkrunning across 36 venues worldwide this week.
Eighteen Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Innpromenade in Innsbruck, Austria by Cara Gates and Curtis Parker-Milnes. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was conceived in 1971, when the young Douglas Adams, lying drunk in a field in Innsbruck and nursing a copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to Europe, looked up at the stars and thought, “If there was a guide to the galaxy, I’d be off like a shot.” The parkrun course is out-and-back along the north bank of the River Inn close to Innsbruck Airport. It is predominantly flat and completely on hiking trails.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Cara Gates in 22:26 at Innpromenade. There were four PBs. These were by Hannah Long with 28:15 at Woodhouse Moor; Edward Hale with 19:43 and Steve Worthington with 21:46 at Roundhay; and Richard Edwards with 27:42 at Horton Park.
Daniel Clayton and Colin Tranter joined the parkrun 100 club with their runs at Hampstead Heath and Cross Flatts respectively. Also of note Robert Butler reached 200 parkruns with his run at Cross Flatts and Lucy Rider reached 400 parkruns with her run at Pontefract.
Top female Age Grade% was 72.75% by Carol Rogers at Heaton and top male Age Grade% was 75.92% by Nick Shakhlevich on his first run at Heslington.
