There were 64 HPH women and 68 HPH men out parkrunning across 44 venues this week.
Twenty-five Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these courses were new to the HPH list. These were Manor Field in Whittlesey by Clare Maxwelll and Kralingse Bos in the Netherlands by Jane and Stephen Prust.
Manor Field parkrun course is flat with one small lap of a playing field, followed by three complete loops around the perimeter of the Manor Park. The perimeter includes a section alongside the River Nene where there is a mooring area for barges and river craft. The course is entirely on grass which can get wet and muddy after heavy rain. The park is next to Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey. The park has a skate park and children’s play area. Various wild birds can be spotted.
The Kralingse Bos is Rotterdam’s largest city park. It extends over approximately 250 hectares, with a harmonious balance between water, forest and open spaces. The park, awarded Best Public Space in the Netherlands in 2007, is a popular place for both Rotterdam residents and visitors. The park has the beach; a petting zoo; a cable car; a nature playground; climbing stones and climbing trees. The climbing stones come from the Delftse Poort, a city gate that was destroyed by bombing during the Second World War. The parkrun course is a single lap on tarmac trails. The first part leads you through the woods before you then return via a lakeside walking path.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Coralie Bell in a PB time of 19:23 at Woodhouse Moor.
There were eight other PBs. These were by Tom McNeillie with 21:54, Abigail Prudhoe 23:35 and Poppy Forwood with 33:09 at Woodhouse Moor; Alexandra Natalie Smith with 23:59 at Brueton; Andrew Carrier with 18:59 and Richard Cartwright with 22:58 at Roundhay; Andrew Black with 18:47 at Cross Flatts and Jack Rose with 25:15 at Bramley.
Top female Age Grade% was 76.35% by Coralie Bell at Woodhouse Moor and top male Age Grade% was 78.41% by Chris Jones at Roundhay.
