There were 51 HPH women and 67 HPH men out parkrunning across 46 venues this week.
Thirty-eight Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course and amongst them two new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Trentham Gardens in Stoke-On-Trent by George Sullivan and Thorp Perrow in North Yorkshire by Tom Elcock and Rob Butler.
Trentham Gardens are within the Trentham Estate on the southern fringes of Stoke-On-Trent. The gardens are formal Italianate gardens laid out in the 1840s by Sir Charles Barry. Since 2000 Trentham Gardens has undergone a £120 million redevelopment by St. Modwen Properties as a leisure destination. This has included restoration of the Italianate gardens and adjacent woodlands, the creation of a garden centre and crafts centre, and various leisure attractions. The overall aim is to avoid noisy theme park-like attractions, and instead to offer “authentic experiences” to older people and younger children.
Thorp Perrow parkrun course is a single lap in an Aboretum within the private Thorpe Perrow Estate near Bedale in North Yorkshire. The Arboretum was originally created by Colonel Sir Leonard Ropner in 1931. Today the Thorp Perrow estate is considered to be one of the finest arboreta in the United Kingdom; The Times listed it as one of the top ten. It also contains a Birds of Prey Centre, with regular flying demonstrations.
There were four first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. These were Thomas Moulding in a PB time of 18:02 at Bramley; Abdu Ahmed in 19:57 at Fort William; Alexander Perkin in 22:23 at Marshall Drive; and Jonathan Coade in 18:36 at Salcey Forest. There were five other PBs. These were by Rob Macdowall with 18:03 at Woodhouse Moor; Tobias Adkins with 18:07 at York; Alice Young with 23:09 at Mile End; Paul Milligan with 21:20 at Middleton Woods; and Emma Brown with 24:20 at Chevin Forest.
Peter Hobson joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 69.36% by Hilary Lund at Pontefract and top male Age Grade% was 72.03% by Tobias Adkins at York.
