There were 58 HPH Women and 43 HPH Men out parkrunning across 35 different venues this week. Twenty-seven Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new parkrun course and amongst these four new courses were added to the HPH list. These were Bicester in Oxfordshire by Anna Stocks; Palacerigg Country in Cumbernauld by Emma Amor; Corkagh Park in Dublin by Chris Worfolk and Odakaryokuchi in Nagoya, Japan by Vikki Hawkins – her fourth different Japanese parkrun course. Bicester parkrun is on Langford Fields – an area designated for recreation in the centre of a 1990s housing development built on farmland. It now has paths for jogging or dog walking; a football pitch and pavillion; and play areas for children. The area is prone to flooding after heavy rain. Palacerigg Country Park is on the outskirts of Cumbernauld – the location where the 1980 film Gregory’s Girl was filmed. The football pitches where Gregory (John Gordon Sinclair) fell in love with Dorothy (Dee Hepburn) are just north of the park. Corkagh Park opened to the public in 1986 and was formerly part of a manor house and its estate Corkagh Demesne. It is home to Ireland’s only purpose-built cycle track which provides a safe, traffic-free environment in which to learn skills, improve fitness, train and race. The park also contains a Fairy Wood. Odaka Ryokuchi Greens Park is a large green area sitting in the middle of the southern suburbs of Nagoya City. It contains an Athletic Field, a Ropeway, and a Dinosaur Playground where you can see the passing Shinkansen bullet trains.
There were two first finshing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Anna Stocks in 20:50 at Bicester and Honor Baldry in 21:54 at Potternewton. There were 11 PBs. These were by Rob Riley with 17:40, Rob Macdowall with 18:20, Laura Foster with 25:20, Hollie Imisson with 25:49 and Karly Stringer with 25:50 at Woodhouse Moor; Paul Ramsden with 24:16 at Long Eaton; Alexandra Natalie Smith with 29:06 and Becky Webb with 29:07 at Bramley; Laura Hastings with 28:52 at Cirencester; Alexander Perkin with 23:10 at Potternewton; and Steve Brown with 29:34 at Chevin Forest.
Chris Harris joined the parkrun 25 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.04% by Anna Stocks at Bicester and top male Age Grade% was 73.02% by Rob Riley at Woodhouse Moor.
