This week there were 61 HPH women and 77 HPH men out parkrunning across 52 venues worldwide.
Thirty-two Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these were new to the HPH list. These were Y Promenâd in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos (Rhos-on-Sea) by Curtis Parker-Milnes and Walton Promenade by Rob Riley.
Rhos-on-Sea is a charming, tranquil seaside resort in Conwy County Borough, North Wales, situated between Llandudno and Colwyn Bay. Known for its relaxed atmosphere, it features a sandy/shingle beach, a picturesque harbour, a scenic promenade, and historic sites like St Trillo’s Chapel, often cited as one of Britain’s smallest churches. Y Promenâd parkrun course in Rhos-on-Sea is out-and-back along the promenade.
Walton Promenade is out and back along the Southcliffe Promenade between Walton-on-the-Naze and Frinton-on-Sea on the Essex Sunshine Coast. Walton-on-the-Naze is a family seaside resort with sandy beaches, seafront gardens, quaint narrow streets and fossil hunting (you might come across some shark teeth on the beach). The recently upgraded pier offers fairground rides, ten pin bowling, escape rooms and sea angling. Just to the north is The Naze, an unspoilt headland of heath, saltmarshes and sandy beaches – it’s 70 feet high cliffs are being eroded away. Frinton-on-Sea is a charming seaside resort that has retained its charming atmosphere of the 1920s & 30s. Venture along tree-lined avenues that sweep down to the beautiful Esplanade and cliff-top greensward, linked with a rainbow of Victorian-style beach huts. Relax on the sandy and secluded Frinton Beach.
There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Thomas Moulding in 18:08 at Potternewton; Tobias Adkins at Wollaton Hall (Wayne Manor) in 18:19; and Aisling Davis in a PB time of 21:59 at Brickfields in Ireland. There were four other PBs. These were by Paul Robinson with 19:32 at Woodhouse Moor; Richard Cartwright with 23:27 at Potternewton; and Andrew Black with 18:34 and Grace Roberts with 28:51 at Rothwell.
There were no new members of the official parkrun clubs, though Vikki Hawkins reached 300 parkruns with her run at Futakotamagawa and Jayne Glennon reached 400 parkruns with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 73.26% by Carol Rogers at Heaton and top male Age Grade% was 74.06% by Andrew Black at Rothwell.
