There were 55 HPH women and 51 HPH men out parkrunning across 37 venues this week. Twenty-one Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them two new venues were added to the HPH list. These were Yarborough Leisure Centre by Dan Waas and Dreiländergarten in Germany by David Grealy. The course at Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln is three and a bit laps of a flat, tarmac, cycle race track, so it’s really fast. Dreiländergarten is a 32-hectare landscape park in the Baden-Württemberg town of Weil am Rhein. If you translate the name it gives you a big clue to its location which is very close to the point where Germany meets both France and Switzerland just north of Basel. The park has a water garden with snapping turtles; a Roman garden; a Baroque vegetable garden modelled on the castle garden of Villandry; and a railway workers’ garden. It also has some impressive sculptures and art installations.
There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Anna Stocks in 21:13 at Roundhay; Rebecca Gray in 23:48 at Pendle; and Tobias Adkins in 18:01 at Maryport Prom. There were six PBs. These were by Alexander Perkin with 21:26, Sarah Underwood with 22:35 and Chris Harris with 22:38 at Rothwell; Alexandra Natalie Smith with 26:11 at Crane; Jordan Clifford with 23:13 at Roberts Park and Rob Riley with 19:45 at Richmond Olympic on Lulu Island in Canada.
Multi-talented parkrun superstar / BAFTA award winning CBeebies presenter / Strictly Come Dancing celebrity dancer / actor and author George Webster joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor, nicely complementing his 100 volunteer club membership achieved previously.
Top female Age Grade% was 69.76% by Anna Stocks at Roundhay and top male Age Grade% was 72.16% by Tobias Adkins at Maryport Prom.
