The HPH men were just on top for a change with 52 HPH Women and 53 HPH Men out parkrunning across 34 different venues this week. Two new venues were added to the HPH list. These were Tyne Green in Hexham in a group visit by Rebecca Gray, Naomi Miles, Graeme Miles, Aron Fulton, Matthew Gray and Heather Fulton and the North Yorkshire Water Park, not far from Scarborough by Jo Rhodes. Tyne Green is an out and back run along the southern bank of the river Tyne through the Tyne Green Country Park. The land for the park was presented to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Jubilee in 1887 by Lord Allendale for the leisure of the local people. It was set out with public walks between avenues of trees and became very popular with the people of Hexham. The North Yorkshire Water Park was originally four specialist fishing lakes along with large lake dedicated to water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, model yacht racing and open water swimming. It was relaunched in 2017 with kayaking, mini electric boats and pedalos added to the activities. It has recently added a brand new café, changing rooms and showers along with an adrenaline fuelled Wake Boarding Line.
It was men only in the first finishers with Tom Thomas at Potternewton in a PB time of 17:40 and Michael Vargas at Byxbee Park in Palo Alto, California in the USA in 17:36. There were six other PBs. These were by Alasdair Fellows with 18:13, Nick Shakhlevch with 20:35 and Abdu Ahmed with 24:12 at Woodhouse Moor; Alexander Perkin with 24:37 at Roundhay; and Ben Hartley with 20:20 and Poppy Forwood with 43:20 at Potternewton.
Lucy Rider joined the parkrun 250 club with her run at Woodhouse Moor.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.43% by Rebecca Gray at Tyne Green and top male Age Grade% was 76.52% by Gordon Crawford at Woodhouse Moor.
