No local cancellations this week but Woodhouse Moor parkrun was only a handful short of last week’s record turnout with 890 recorded parkrunners which included 46 Hyde Park Harriers. Overall there were 54 HPH women and 62 HPH men out parkrunning across 32 venues worldwide this week.
Eleven Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. One of these courses was new to the HPH list. This was Three Brooks in Bristol by Cara Gates. The course is two out and back loops on natural compacted paths around Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve in Bradley Stoke. The town of Bradley Stoke was built in the 1980s on low-grade farmland, and a number of natural features such as Savage’s Wood, Webb’s Wood, and Sherbourne’s Brake were incorporated into the town to form the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve. This tranquil area in the middle of the busy community of Bradley Stoke is made up of the three previously named bluebell woods, linked by an important wildlife corridor that includes brooks, ponds, areas of rough grassland, species-rich hedgerows, and a lake. The lake attracts ducks throughout the year and has provided breeding sites for little grebes, reed warblers, sedge warblers, and mute swans. It is also part of the Frome Valley Relief Sewer. The parkrun course starts and finishes adjacent to the lake.
There were four first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Clare Slorach in 21:36 at Roundhay; Jonathan Coade in 19:59 at Dewsbury; Tobias Adkins with 20:00 at Fort William; and Andrew Black with 19:22 at Potternewton. There were four PBs. These were by Fleur Siswick with 23:38 and Nagendran Balaramal with 26:46 at Woodhouse Moor; Jane Prust with 28:40 at Cross Flatts; and Steve Brown with 28:18 at Beeston.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.80% by Jane Prust and top male Age Grade% was 80.17% by Chris Jones both at Cross Flatts.
