There were 64 HPH women and 66 HPH men out parkrunning across 49 venues this week.
Thirty-eight Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them two were new for the HPH list. These were Mullingar in Ireland by Tom Williams and Henderson Lake in Alberta Canada on Canada Day by Tami Bond.
Mullingar parkrun is an out and back course along a section of the 42 km long Old Rail Trail between Athlone and Mullingar. This long distance shared cycling and walking trail runs along a disused railway line going past restored station houses and under pretty stone arched bridges.
Henderson Park is a 117 acre park located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Within the park is a man-made lake, the largest lake in the city. According to the City of Lethbridge web site: “For the nature, exercise, and history enthusiasts there is a 2.5 km trail around the lake providing ample opportunity for one to stretch their legs, check out local wildlife, or view the commemorative and historical markers and displays located throughout the park. There is also plenty of open space in the park which is often used for ultimate frisbee and picnics.” An annual three-day Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the lake each summer, but it was over the weekend of 23rd-25th June so a week too late this time.
There were no first finishing Hyde Park Harriers this week. There were however nine PBs. These were by Andrew Smallwood with 28:11 at Woodhouse Moor; Poppy Forwood with 40:33 at Huddersfield (despite rolling her ankle); Alice Young with 23:40 at Mile End; Peter Noren with 16:51 at Cassiobury; Clare Evans with 21:24 at Heslington; Steve Worthington with 23:42 at Cliffe Castle; Nick Shakhlevich with 18:48 at Walmer and Deal Seafront; Stephen Prust with 34:27 at Potternewton; and Chris Lodge with 23:48 at Chevin Forest.
Top female Age Grade% was 71.19% by Jane Prust at Potternewton and top male Age Grade% was 76.56% by Peter Noren at Cassiobury.
