There were 61 HPH women, 62 HPH men and 1 undeclared HPH out parkrunning across 50 venues this week.
Twenty-six Hyde Park Harriers travelled to try out a new course. Two of these were new to the HPH list. These were Malling Rec by Andrew Nicholls and Darebin in Australia by Josh Mitchell.
Despite the name, Malling Rec isn’t in or near Malling in Kent where there has been a parkrun since 2015. Malling Rec parkrun started three weeks ago and is located at Malling Recreation Ground, in Lewes – the historic county town of East Sussex. The course is two laps. Participants complete a partial circuit of Malling Recreation Ground before heading up the old railway cutting for an out-and-back section. Upon their return to the start, this loop is repeated. Malling Recreation Ground is home to the Waterloo Bonfire Society, site of one of the many bonfire societies in Lewes. Facilities include a children’s play area; four football pitches; a skate park; and scenic views of the River Ouse.
Darebin parkrun is in Melbourne, Australia. The course is an out and back with one bridge crossing. It runs alongside Darebin Creek from C T Barling Reserve on Plenty Road along the Darebin Creek Trail to Southern Road and back. There are rolling hills throughout the course with some flat areas. It is on a mixture of concrete paths and tarmac paths. The Darebin Creek Trail is a 25km shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians which follows Darebin Creek in the inner and outer northern suburbs of Melbourne.
There were two first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Frazer Carr in 17:03 at York and Thomas Moulding in 18:03 on his first time at New Earswick.
Conor Goold joined the parkrun 100 club with his run at Whitley Bay. Paul Sawyer joined the parkrun 250 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor.
There were five PBs. These were by Rosie Lewis with 24:51 at Woodhouse Moor; Alison Hargreaves with 23:26 at Whitley Bay; Paul Robinson with 21:33 at Temple Newsam; Becky Webb with 28:53 at Armley; and Tami Bond with 32:38 at Aspen.
Top female Age Grade% was 69.70% by Carol Rogers at Wakefield Thornes and top male Age Grade% was 76.59% by Ian Martinson at Hull.
