parkrunday 21st May 2022 – Hyde Park Harriers

There were 43 HPH Women and 34 HPH Men out parkrunning across 28 different venues this week. Two new venues were added to the HPH list, these were Chopwell Wood by Tom Elcock and Southall by Monika Pugeviciute. Chopwell Wood is a 360-hectare mixed woodland managed by Forestry England ten miles south west of Gateshead. As well as having miles of paths and trails for walking, cycling and horse riding it is also home of the Feel Good in the Forest initiative that aims to improve the physical and mental health of those in most need. Southall parkrun in West London has now become more accessible by public transport as Southall railway station is one of the stops on the newly opened cross London Elizabeth Line. The station is also notable as being the only station in the UK with signage in Punjabi as well as English.

There were three first finishing Hyde Park Harriers. These were Monika Pugeviciute in 24:08 at Southall; Cara Gates in a PB time of 22:56 at Middleton Woods; and Anna Stocks in a PB time of 20:19 at Skipton. There were two other PBs. These were by Niall Flynn with 21:02 at Harrogate and Jo Rhodes with 28:09 at Keswick.

Daniel Clayton joined the parkrun 50 club with his run at Woodhouse Moor.

Top female Age Grade% was 72.85% by Anna Stocks at Skipton and top male Age Grade% was 66.21% by Greg Judges at Armley.
