There were 50 HPH women and 52 HPH men out parkrunning across 43 venues this week. Twenty-one Hyde Park Harriers tried out a new course and amongst them three new courses were added to the HPH list. These were The Old Showfield in Frome by the old but still young at heart Liz and Chris Jones; Sutcliffe in Greenwich by Jason Newell; and Macroom Castle Demesne in Ireland by Gary Grant. The Old Showfield is Frome’s largest open green space – great for kids, dogs, runners, walkers and general outdoor stuff. The field is also known locally as the Cheese Field – a reminder that it used to be the site of the town’s annual Cheese Show. Sutcliffe parkrun is three laps around Sutcliffe Park Nature Reserve in Greenwich and is conveniently located close to the start of some little race that was taking place at the weekend. The nature reserve attracts wildlife such as dragonflies, damselflies, herons, little egrets, kingfishers, reed warblers and snipe. Macroom Castle, in the centre of the town of Macroom in County Cork has changed owners many times since being built in the 12th Century. The Castle has been burnt out on five different occasions, most recently during the War of Independence, in 1922 following the evacuation of the British Auxiliaries who had commandeered it as a residence in 1920. In 1925 Lady Ardilaun made over the Castle Estate to be held in trust for the people of Macroom. The Castle Demesne was developed as an area of leisure and beauty, with natural features such as the river and magnificent oak trees being incorporated into a parkland of tree-lined avenues and walks, as well as orchards, gardens, grazing land and a deer park. It is an area very rich in flora and fauna. It is possible to see otters, bats, mute and whooper swans, Irish stoats, red squirrels, foxes and rabbits.
There was one first finishing Hyde Park Harrier. This was Thomas Moulding in 17:48 at Preston. There were six PBs. These were by Richard Cartwright with 24:34 at Woodhouse Moor; Karly Stringer with 25:36 at Rothwell; Rupert Jordan with 16:54 at Belton House; Paul Ramsden with 24:24 at Castle Park; Elijah Woods with 46:54 at Chevin Forest; and Peter Wilkinson with 26:43 at Roberts Park.

Top female Age Grade% was 71.11% by Jane Prust at Newtown and top male Age Grade% was 80.18% by Rupert Jordan at Belton House.
